Drawing-of-Flowers

I think my work is taking on a slightly different direction. I’m slowly getting back into line drawing again, which is ace, although I miss making collages. It seems to be a natural progression for an artist to develop their own style, interests and ideas- even if it means making some changes which I guess is healthy. Looking back at my work over the past few months, it’s a lot more refined and controlled. Although I keep on telling myself to draw more people and random objects just to expand my portfolio a bit more…or even dabble in a bit of typography.

What do you folks think? I’d love to hear about your thoughts and opinions!

For the past 7 months I’ve been working as a nursery SEN assistant at Berger Primary School in Homerton. Yesterday was my last day and I was *almost* an emotional wreck. I didn’t expect to get a hand made card from the children as well as flowers and a thank you card from the nursery teachers. There were quite a lot of staff leaving as well so we had a party when school was over (of course!)

The past few months have whizzed by so quickly. It’s been quite stressful at times but in a good way! I’ve really enjoyed my time as a SEN assistant and I do recommend it if you’re planning on becoming a teacher or getting into SEN work because it’s extremely rewarding.

Now that I’ve finished my full-time job I’m going to focus on illustration before I leave london/ England… and then the craziness begins!

Sale

I’m moving out of London in August so everything, and I mean everything, has to go. As a way of saying thank you for your support over the past few years I’m having offering 50% off everything in my Etsy shop (minimum order has to be £5.00).

Now’s your time to make a purchase as I won’t be opening my Etsy shop when I’m back at home (I’ve got a lot of stuff to sort out!)

I don’t get the time to do any personal work, due to my full-time job, so it’s been pretty sweet to spend a bit of time developing some ideas. I’ve spent the afternoon doing some sketches based on an open garden tour I went on a couple of weeks ago (I’ll blog about it soon!)

I’ve been experimenting with mark-making by applying different pens and colour pencils over each other. I think I need to draw more still life objects in order to expand my portfolio i.e. I can draw other things apart from cute animals.

What do you think? I’d love to hear your feedback.
