Hello there! How have you been? Are you enjoying the blazing sunshine we’ve been getting at the moment? Today when I looked at the last post it was waaaay over a month ago (oooppss!). There’s been radio silence here for the past couple of weeks as I’ve been busy and, literally, had no time to sit down and do a bit of writing. I cannot say much about the wedding venue, but we’re getting that sorted out right now and, OMG, I am buzzing with excitement! All will be revealed once we’ve confirmed both venues and then that means I can crack on with the wedding invites, which by far is the most exciting and fun bit of it- right?!

I did some quick work for my very talented friend Amy Fitz Doyley and if you’ve been following me over the past couple of years her name may ring a bell. I’ve done work for her tin the past and it’s always an absolute pleasure to be able to work with someone who is incredibly talented and sings from the heart.

Good luck Amy with your tour! Go girl!

The weather has changed very quickly, right? I’m currently wrapped up warm: layered up with my jumper, thick socks and slippers to finish it off. And did you see the snow today? It’s always so magical to see snow, that is, until you get outside and it’s all mushy and watery!

Recently, a friend of mine at work asked to me create an artwork for her nursery as she’s having a baby in January. She wanted something autumn related for the nursery as it’s one of her favourite seasons. My friend was absolutely delighted with the print when I gave it to her too!

She had seen some of my work on my website and told me what elements she liked, I then planned out a rough sketch in my sketchbook. Once my friend okayed it I began painting out some of the elements I’d be using: leaves, flowers, and some squiggly mark-making patterns to fill up the spaces around the fox. After painting out all the elements, as well as drawing out the fox, I scanned everything into Photoshop and layered it up with different paper and textures to give it a handmade feel to it.

I do love taking on commissions that are for special occasions: be it someone’s birthday or for a house warming gift, I feel like I’ve done my part in creating that joyous moment. One happy, happy person (plus baby)- yay!

If you would like a custom piece of artwork please get in touch with me providing details of the occasion, who’s it for, what size you’d like it and any themes/ideas you had in mind! I look forward to hearing back from you.

What a hectic/manic week! On Monday night I dropped off my work at A-side B-side GalleryHackney Downs Studios– for the House of Tigers exhibition; leaving Adam, who curated the show, and a few of this other friends to paint the walls (sorry folks!).

Anyway, Thursday’s Private View was amazing! The turn out was incredible and the whole place was buzzing with people admiring the artworks and getting to talk to the other 30 plus artists.

Adam and his friends did a fantastic job of curating the show; everyone’s work really complimented one another as the artworks were all spread out across the space rather than your typical linear layout (see below).

Me-and-June

June and I posing next to her artwork!

My friend June Sees was also part of the show and here we both are standing next to her beautiful artwork of a sleeping tiger and rabbit with a lovely bamboo frame.

I had a wonderful evening talking to friends, getting to know the other artists and then we headed off to the pub for a burger. And more beer.

Pretty good night indeed!

House of Tigers will be running until Tuesday 27th October.
